4.1.1.5 Condensate Pump

The optional condensate pump should be inspected

semiannually and cleaned. Ensure that the ﬂ oat

works freely. Wipe the ﬂ oat with a wet cloth and de-

tergent to remove dirt. Clean the tank bottom. Check

that the discharge line is open and water can pass

through it freely.

4.1.1.6 Humidiﬁ er

The optional humidiﬁ er’s steam cylinder has a limited

lifetime and must be replaced periodically. Because

water conditions and humidiﬁ er usage rates vary

greatly, it is difﬁ cult to establish intervals for changing

the cylinder. Individual maintenance schedules must

be determined for each location, based upon periodic

examination of the humidiﬁ er. A change cylinder light

on the humidiﬁ er cabinet will illuminate (red) when

the cylinder requires replacement.

NOTE

The red light may illuminate during initial start-

up but it doesn’t necessarily mean the cylinder

needs to be replaced.

Refer to the humidiﬁ er operator’s manual supplied

under separate cover for detailed instructions for

changing the cylinder.

4.1.2 Condensing Unit

Maintenance access to the condensing unit is

through one or two removable panels (depending

on model). Clean the air-cooled condenser coil of all

debris that will inhibit airﬂ ow. This can be done with

compressed air or with a commercial coil cleaner.

Check for bent or damaged coil ﬁ ns and repair as

necessary. On outdoor units in winter, do not permit

snow to accumulate on or around the condensing

unit. Check all refrigerant lines and capillaries for

vibration isolation and support as necessary. Check

all refrigerant and coolant lines for signs of leaks.

CAUTION

The compressor crank case heater is energized

as long as power is applied to the unit. If the

main switch is disconnected for long periods

do not attempt to start a condensing unit until 8

hours after applying power. This allows enough

time for all liquid refrigerant to be driven out of

the compressor. This is especially important at

low ambient conditions.

4.2 Troubleshooting

Turn off all power to the unit before conducting any troubleshooting procedures unless the procedure

speciﬁ cally requires the system to operate. Keep hands, clothing and tools clear of the electrical terminals

and rotating components. Equipment located in the ceiling can pose unusual difﬁ culties. Ensure that your

footing is stable at all times.
